PATCH is an adhesive patch with a hole for common diabetes technology, such as sensors, pumps, and infusion sets. The main purpose of the patch is to enlarge the area that adheres to the skin and thereby ensure that the technology's own adhesive stays on the body for the entire duration, i.e., until the pump or sensor would be replaced anyway.
MATERIAL A thin, strong, and stretchy textile material that follows the body's movements, breathes, and adheres well even when wet. 97% cotton and 3% lycra.
The patch has an approved medical adhesive according to European standard (ISO 10993) which is hypoallergenic and latex-free. The adhesive is applied in a wave pattern for improved breathability and adhesion. It also looks quite nice.
USAGE All people have different skin types, and although our patches are very gentle, our recommendation is that you apply the patch as late as possible, i.e., wait until you know that you will be spending a lot of time in water or doing a tough physical activity that involves a lot of sweating. This is to ensure that the patch does not come off prematurely while also being gentle on the skin. This mainly applies to sensors that stay in place for a long time (10-14 days). Should the patch start to come off, we recommend cutting off the part that has started to detach and possibly then applying an additional patch over the old one.
APPLICATION The patch is on a thin white paper film that is perforated through the middle, making it easy to apply to the skin.
- First, ensure that the skin is clean and dry in the area where the patch will be applied. Be careful not to apply patches to areas with sunburned or otherwise damaged skin.
- Gently pull apart the paper film at the perforation so that you can see a little of the colored backing. Carefully remove one half and apply half of the patch to the skin without touching too much of the sticky surface.
- Once the first half of the patch adheres to the skin, then remove the other part of the film and apply the rest of the patch.
- Pat and rub with a finger around the entire applied patch to ensure it is securely attached.
REMOVAL We recommend using an adhesive remover spray (e.g., Niltac). Spray on and let it work for a few seconds. Then quickly peel off the patch and wipe away any residue so that the skin is clean and smooth. Moisturize with a rich skin cream to keep the skin soft and supple.
